To Our Patients
I write this letter to you with a mixture of joy and sadness. I have decided to accept a once in a lifetime opportunity here in Kansas City. I have been asked to be the new President of the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. This is an organization that works on behalf of uninsured and underserved for 6 counties in the Kansas City area. This organization makes $30 million to help with health care in our area every year. They have been a great supporter of our clinic over the years. This new position will allow me to continue the work I have done at the clinic but now for thousands of patients. It is a big job and I promise to do my best.
It took a great deal of soul searching to leave the Shared Care Free Clinic. I worried a great deal about what would happen to all of my patients. We are working with Truman Medical Centers to take over the care of our 650 patients. I have no doubt that they will continue the personal, caring partnership you have been a part of at the Shared Care Clinic.
To Friends of the Shared Care Free Clinic
The Shared Care Free Clinic Board of Directors is happy to announce that current Medical Director Bridget McCandless, MD has accepted the position of President and CEO of the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
Since its inception in April 2000, the clinic has been under the care and continued growth of Dr. McCandless. Dr. McCandless has served the area’s uninsured population with high quality medical care and unwavering passion for their wellness and well-being.
Her new position will be one where she has the opportunity to expand her impact regionally and will allow her to enter into the healthcare debate on a national level.
The Shared Care Free Clinic patients and staff work toward a common goal of wellness where quality care is not dependent on one’s ability to pay. We serve low-income, uninsured adults with chronic illness so that they will continue to work, raise families and be productive members of the community.
